"How much does an app cost?" is the Pakistani equivalent of "how long is a piece of string?" The honest range in the local market is wide: a simple app can be PKR 200,000, a serious product PKR 1 to 5 million or more. Here is what actually moves the number, and how to not burn your budget.

The rough ranges

App type Typical cost in Pakistan Examples
Simple app PKR 200,000 to 600,000 Content app, basic ordering, single core feature
Medium app PKR 600,000 to 1,500,000 Booking, marketplace, real-time features, payments
Complex app PKR 1,500,000 to 5,000,000+ Multi-sided platform, live tracking, heavy backend

Anyone quoting you a fixed price before asking about your app is quoting a template or guessing.

What actually drives the cost

Features, not screens. The expensive part is not how many screens the app has, it is what the screens do. User accounts, payments, real-time tracking, chat, admin dashboards, notifications, offline mode. Each adds real engineering.

iOS and Android together. Building both natively means two apps. Cross-platform tools like Flutter or React Native build both from one codebase and usually save 30 to 40 percent versus dual native, with a quality tradeoff that is smaller than it used to be.

The backend. The app is the visible 30 percent. The APIs, database, admin panel, and server costs behind it are often the bigger half of the build.

Design. A polished custom UI takes real design hours. A clean, standard interface costs less and often works fine for an MVP.

Ongoing costs. This is what nobody warns about: hosting, app store fees, push services, maintenance, and updates every time the OS versions move. Budget monthly, not just the launch build.

MVP is the smart path

The version of the app in your head probably has 20 features. The version that should launch first has 3. An MVP proves people actually want the thing before you spend the full budget on it, and it ships in weeks instead of months. Most successful apps launched thin and grew with usage, not the other way around. This is how we approach app builds: smallest version that validates the idea first, then invest where the data says.

Freelancer or software house

A freelance developer costs less and can be right for a simple app or an MVP. A software house costs more but you get a team (design, backend, QA, project management) and someone still answers when version 2 needs to happen. For anything you plan to run a business on, the team usually wins.

Red flags

  • A quote with no questions asked about your app.
  • No mention of the backend or admin panel.
  • Nothing about maintenance after launch.
  • Suspiciously cheap, because the real cost gets discovered later.

The honest version

Budget PKR 300,000 to 800,000 for a serious MVP of a real app, more for anything complex. If someone offers a full app for PKR 50,000, you are buying a template that will not survive contact with real users.

Tell us what your app does on WhatsApp and we will give you a real number in PKR, and tell you honestly if an MVP or even a website serves the idea better first.
