How to Choose a Web Development Company in Pakistan

Every agency claims to be the best. Here is how to actually pick a web development company in Pakistan: the checks, the questions, and the red flags.

Type "web development company Lahore" into Google and you get a hundred agencies all claiming to be the best. Most business owners pick based on price or the prettiest portfolio screenshot, then learn the hard way. Here is how to actually choose a web development company in Pakistan, and what separates the ones that deliver from the ones that disappear.

Check their own website first

The single most honest test: how good is the company's own site? Open it on your phone, check the speed, look at the design quality. A web development company with a slow, dated, broken website is telling you exactly what yours will be. Run their site through PageSpeed Insights. If a company selling websites cannot make its own fast and clean, walk away.

Look at live work, not screenshots

Portfolio screenshots prove nothing. Ask for live URLs of sites they built and open every one on your phone:

  • Does it load fast on mobile data?
  • Does it look good on a small screen?
  • Do the links, forms, and buttons actually work?
  • Is it still maintained, or abandoned and broken?

Then ask to speak to one of those clients if you can. The answer to "can I talk to a past client" tells you more than any portfolio.

Ask the questions that expose the truth

  1. Who owns the domain, hosting, and code when it is done? Correct answer: you. Always.
  2. What is your process? A real company has one: discovery, design, build, test, launch, support.
  3. What does maintenance cost after launch? If they have no answer, there is no plan.
  4. Who will actually build it? Some agencies sell the project then outsource it to the cheapest freelancer they can find.
  5. What happens if I need changes later? Get the revision and support policy before signing.

Freelancer, small agency, or software house

  • Freelancer: cheapest, fine for a simple site, risky for anything you depend on. One person, one point of failure.
  • Small agency: the middle ground. Real team, real process, reasonable price. This is the right fit for most Pakistani businesses.
  • Larger software house: best for complex projects, ecommerce, apps, systems. Costs more, delivers more.

The mistake is hiring a freelancer's price expecting a software house's result, or paying agency rates for what turns out to be a template.

Red flags that should end the conversation

  • Instant quote with no questions about your business.
  • Guaranteed #1 ranking on Google. Nobody can promise that.
  • They own your domain or hosting account.
  • No contract, no scope, no timeline in writing.
  • Portfolio full of screenshots, zero live links.
  • Unreachable between meetings. Imagine them after the invoice is paid.

The honest version

Choose on track record and process, not on price or the slickest sales pitch. The cheapest option is almost never the cheapest outcome, because a bad build gets paid for twice.
